LONDON, : Twickenham crowned Venue of the Year

. Stadium hosted 10 games during the Rugby World Cup

Twickenham received two Stadium Business Awards, including the prestigious Venue of the Year, at a ceremony on the pitch at Real Madrid’s Santiago Bernabéu Stadium this week.

Thrilled to collect the award, Stadium Director Richard Knight said: “This has truly been an exceptional period for the stadium having hosted ten games in the ‘best Rugby World Cup ever’ and become an industry leader in fan experience and product innovation.

“Twickenham’s strength is the quality of our people and this award celebrates everyone’s contribution and the collaborative approach we have across the organisation to deliver world class events and experiences.”

In addition to Venue of the Year, Twickenham scooped the Product Innovation Award in recognition of its work to deliver a great matchday fan experience through cashless and contactless payment systems.

Judges said: “2015 was a landmark year for Twickenham – hosting a world-class Rugby World Cup, delivering an enhanced fan experience, completing major capital works on time and in budget, implementing £20m+ of stadium technologies, and delivering record revenues back to grassroots rugby.”
